In today’s world yoga gives the most thrilling and amazing results to those who are practicing it regularly and correctly. It is important for anyone starting a yoga practice to learn how to do the posture correctly and in the right shape and alignment. Yoga is a lifelong practice and there is no race to the end. Here are some common mistakes that beginners make when starting to practice yoga.
There is no doubt that practicing yoga is a great idea – not only for your physical body but also for your mental health and overall vitality.
However, as the beginnings of this ancient but still modern practice, one makes some big mistakes. Flexibility, strength, and finally the key to a “state of yoga” is perseverance, practice, and patience.
This is why many people quit after starting yoga. He thinks yoga is too complicated and not suitable for him. But everyone makes mistakes in the beginning and this is no excuse to quit yoga!
When I first started with yoga I made a lot of mistakes that I only realize now, looking back. So it’s okay if you think you’re doing something wrong but don’t know what it is.

There is a lot going on in the yoga class – concentration, breathing, bending, twisting, and vice versa – it requires a full engagement of the mind, body, and heart. For beginners and experienced yogis, this complexity means that mistakes do happen. While some yoga mistakes can make you feel uncomfortable and keep you from progressing, others can actually compromise your safety. Don’t worry though – most yoga mistakes are easy to correct!
Pay close attention to the shape of the pose
Just because you can’t go into the full expression of the pose, or practice the pose like your neighbor or teacher, doesn’t mean that the steps you take to reach the full expression are his. Are not worth it! There is no such thing as a “perfect” pose. However, there is a “perfect pose” for you. Each pose can be broken, so if you have difficulty, ask the teacher for a change. Pay attention to the shape and function of the pose: is it a backband, or a forward twist? Where are the shoulders, arms, and hips? Copy these basic elements and do something that your body can handle and it will feel good! It’s about enjoying the stretch, wherever and whenever you feel it, it makes your body a little more flexible over time.
Taking the wrong class:
Yoga, like everything else, consists of different levels. This is especially shocking when beginners start their practice or join Advanced Level courses directly, as you are more likely to harm yourself. It’s like diving deep into a swimming pool without knowing how to swim. Find basic classes in your yoga studio or gym, or invest in a beginner yoga DVD.
Restrict yourself to advanced yoga positions
There are many different types of yoga and many different poses. Each type of yoga comes with its own set of poses, some of which are more or less modern.
Many beginners often want to jump through the basic poses and go straight to the more modern poses. But yoga is about travel, not destination.
Focusing on the basic and initial pose helps you build a foundation and strength in your mind and body. This will be the basis on which you can gradually create more modern poses when your body is ready.
Furthermore, trying too high a pose too quickly can lead to injury. If you haven’t practiced yoga before, you may be at higher risk of injury if you don’t move through the basic movements first.
Forget your breath
Breathing awareness keeps you safe. Observe how your breath reacts to your movements. If you have shortness of breath, you are taking yourself too far. As long as you can practice posing with natural easy breathing, you are less likely to do it!
There are many benefits to focusing on breathing in yoga. It keeps the mind alert and present because the breath is always “now”. When breathing and movement are harmonized, the magic begins in yoga. The mind becomes calm and we experience peace.
Arrive late for class
Giving yourself plenty of time to park, check-in and set up your yoga practice will promote a calm and relaxed mindset and give you a chance to leave the stress of the day at the door. Arriving 5-15 minutes early is a sign of respect for your teacher and fellow students and will give you time to bond with your yoga studio community before class.
If you are late, it is usually best to wait until after the initial meditation to get into the classroom – but every yoga studio will have different policies regarding affordability. Try not to bring too much luggage.
To be very shy:
If you are going to a class, be sure to get there early enough to talk to the teacher. Let him know that you are a beginner and mention any of your injuries or limitations so he can show you how to fix them. It is a good idea to introduce yourself to the teacher as it will give them full attention and you will get the most out of the class. Don’t be shy! I like it when people come to say hello and ask me questions before class starts.
Wearing the wrong clothes
Many people try to hide the extra pounds by wearing loose, loose clothing while practicing yoga. Which is very wrong. Instead, one should wear clothes where one can breathe and not feel uncomfortable while practicing different positions.
